The Villages' Board of Directors urges you to please recycle. Recycling helps our community, The Mauna Lani Resort, and all of Hawaii County. Mahalo.
The Villages provides recycle bins for CRV (HI5) cans and bottles. They are located on the south side (Foodland parking lot side) of the maintenance building across the street from home 101. There are separate bins for:
- plastic bottles
- glass bottles
- aluminum cans
- generic glass containers, including wine and liquor bottles
PUAKO TRANSFER CENTER:
The Puako Transfer Center accepts household trash, plastics,glass, paper, and cardboard. It is open Sunday, Tuesday, and Friday from 6 am to 6 pm. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years.
There are separate containers for:
- glass bottles
- plastics
- paper
- cardboard.
Trash has a separate chute on the right.
No green waste, industrial, or commercial waste, hazardous chemicals, tires, or paint accepted.

Directions:
Turn left onto the Queen's Highway (Hwy.19), left again on the road to Puako, and the transfer center is just down the hill on the left.
WAIMEA TRANSFER CENTER:
Electronic household waste can be recycled at the Waimea Transfer Center on the 2nd Saturday of each month from 9 am to 4 pm. It is closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. For other recyclables, the Center is open daily from 6 am to 6 pm.

Directions:
Turn left onto the Queen's Highway (Hwy. 19) and then right when the highway ends at Kawaihae Road going up hill towards Waimea. The transfer station is on the right, past the junction of Kohala Mountain Road (Hwy. 250) and Kawaihae Road.
